Machine de Cirque is a Quebec City-based circus company that offers a high dose of vertiginous prowess, strong emotions, poetry, intelligence and humor through the production of innovative and original circus shows. Its ingenious and profoundly human creations are always driven by a unifying vision. Machine de Cirque's unique approach to the art of circus touches and moves audiences.

Winner of the International Outreach Award

The NPO's artistic director, Vincent Dubé, was awarded the 2017 Prix du rayonnement international by the Conseil de la Culture des régions de Québec et de Chaudière-Appalaches

Young Quebec Entrepreneur: Arista

On October 21st 2020, Vincent Dubé was awarded Jeune entrepreneur du Québec : arts et culture prize in the ARISTA provincial competition, which was organized by the Jeune Chambre de commerce de Montréal. This prize rewarded promising young entrepreneurs in the Quebec business industry, who stood out for their leadership and innovative ideas.

Arts and culture awards

The troupe won the Prix Ville de Québec 2019, recognizing the excellence and originality of its productions, as well as the growing influence and recognition it enjoyed during the 2018-2019 season. The award was presented in Quebec City (Canada) as part of the Prix d'excellence des arts et de la culture.

Mission

Machine de Cirque is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to bring together the various players in the arts and technology community around circus production projects.

The organization focuses on the excellence of its productions and the sustainable development of its team. It encourages exchanges and collaboration with other cultural organizations in the region to promote local talent and develop local and regional expertise. It encourages the arrival of international specialists whose resources can be shared with the region's cultural community.

Machine de Cirque has international ambitions and wishes, through its productions, to become an exemplary ambassador of Quebec circus throughout the world.

History

The company is founded under the initiative of Vincent Dubé, Raphaël Dubé, Yohann Trépanier, Ugo Dario, Maxim Laurin and Frédéric Lebrasseur.

2013

Machine de Cirque produces its first show, a show that bears the organization's name. This unique creation is a great success with audiences and critics alike.

2015

The nomadic show Truck Stop: The Great Journey, recounting the singular journey of an unusual group of campers across the American continent, is created.

2018

La Galerie is born. In this third production, the spectators are invited to the frontiers of art and taken in an absurd exhibition at the museum. Vertiginous feats, surprising finds, colorful poetry and self-mockery are all part of this ode to creativity.

2019

Despite the pandemic, the troupe presents Fleuve, at Baie de Beauport (Quebec City), an in-situ circus journey inspired by the St-Lawrence River. Subsequently, Ghost Light: between fall and flight, makes its world premiere at the prestigious CIRCA - Festival du Cirque Actuel in Auch, France. The company’s third touring production leads us into a captivating performance that features a blend of stunning acrobatic feats, choreography, ghostly lights, and upbeat music.

2020

Errance – 1916: le second brasier, a walk-through circus show, is presented at the Saint-Charles de Limoilou church in Quebec City. This immersive experience attracts more than 3700 spectators.

2021

Machine de Cirque is part of the mega-production called Les 3 Géants presented during the festival Montréal Complètement Cirque. In the same year, the show Changes, specifically created for the GOP cabaret in Germany, sees the light of day.

2022

Robot infidèle, the fourth touring show of the company, addresses the search for balance between creativity and rationality. It makes its debut at the Spa Festival in Belgium.

2023

Kintsugi, Machine de Cirque's latest production, makes its world premiere at the Festival International de Vaison Danses in France. With this show, Machine de Cirque creates a moment of great humanity, imbued with vertiginous acrobatic prowess.

2024

These productions have been presented over 1000 times in Europe, Asia and North America, and the number continues to grow. New productions are also in the works. They are based on the organization's artistic signature, which skillfully combines high-level contemporary circus with musical and theatrical performances, and are driven by the collaborative spirit that animates Machine de Cirque.
