La Galerie

Prix des Passeurs culturels

The show La Galerie won the Prix des Passeurs culturels 2020, which recognized the quality of a show included in the 2019-2020 program of the Centre culturel de l'Université de Sherbrooke.

Show description

The circus invades the museum! Seven crazy acrobats and an electrifying musician take over a monochrome exhibition. In a burst of creativity, they transform it into an explosion of color. Laughing at convention, these characters, as zany as they are touching, eagerly explore what's behind the scenes. Vertiginous feats, surprising finds, colorful poetry and self-mockery are all part of this ode to creativity. Let yourself be intoxicated by this unique experience. Take part in La Galerie.

The short film

During a nighttime visit to the museum, a woman comes across several visitors with odd behaviours. She meanders through the exhibits, driven by a vivid desire to vibrate, to feel. A painting catches her attention. She feels seized by it. Around the woman, time stands still. A wild desire to touch the painting overcomes her. Bewildered, she then falls into a surreal parallel universe. In this creative journey, she finds familiar faces with whom she shares artistic and acrobatic impulses.

Since its release in June 2021, the short film La Galerie has been selected by over forty film festivals and has been presented in 17 countries. It won the title of Best Short Film at the Experimental, Dance & Music Film Festival (2022, Canada) and at the Amarcort Film Festival (MOViE category, 2022, Italy).
